Lois R. Valle, 88, of West Milford, NJ, passed away at her home on Saturday, November 26, 2011. Mrs. Valle was born in Culver, Kansas to Bessie (Kresge) Sams and Lawrence Sams. She proudly served in the US Navy during WWII and was selected to be the soloist at the funeral of President Roosevelt. While in the service she met and married Elmo G. Valle. They lived in Patterson, NJ and later moved to West Milford, NJ where she has resided since 2000. Mrs. Valle will best be remembered for her love of travel, in particular her love of Anna Maria Island. She was predeceased by her loving husband Elmo G. Valle in 1985 and her cherished grandson Rene Bunky Basedow in 1984. Mrs. Valle is survived by her loving daughter Kathleen and her husband Paul R.Steberger of West Milford, and her dear son E. David Valle and his wife Kim of Maine; her two grandsons Ryan and Jacob Valle of Winthrop, Maine; her sister Bethel Jilka of Kansas and her brother Larry Sams and his wife Joan of Kansas, as well as many nieces and nephews. A memorial visitation will take place on Wednesday, November 30, 2011 from 10 am to 11 am with a memorial service immediately following the visitation at 11 am at the Stickle-Soltesz Funeral Home, 187 LaRue Road, Newfoundland, NJ 07435.
